In Paktika province, a police vehicle was blown up as it rolled over a roadside bomb Tuesday, killing four officers, the Interior Ministry said in a statement. U.S. forces on Sunday killed five Taliban fighters near Kandahar in southern Afghanistan and arrested a Taliban commander in the Gulistan valley, NATO officials in Kabul said. The commander had been involved in attacks in Gulistan against Afghan security forces and coalition troops, military officials said. No one else was injured or killed in that operation. The U.S. military lost a drone Sunday when it crashed shortly after launch in Paktika Province. Officials at Bagram Air Force Base said the drone had mechanical difficulties shortly after takeoff.
