Foreign ministry spokeswoman Ragnhild Imerslund said based on the developments in the general security situation, Norway has decided to close its embassy in Islamabad on Thursday 2 July and Friday 3 July told AFP.

She declined to specify these developments. She also did not say whether the Norwegian embassy had received specific threats.

It is not immediately clear whether Norway would reopen its Pak embassy after the week end recess. ‘We are constantly reviewing the situation’, said the foreign ministry official.

Islamabad has seen several bomb blasts and suicide attacks against western targets.
