Karzai criticizes U.S.timeline for leaving, calls for action to force Pakistan to stop supporting the Taliban, says The Washington Post .
Prez Karzai’s frustration is understandable. There is no progress in curbing terrorism and it will remain elusive as long as the Taliban sanctuaries are intact and the ISI guides and goads the Taliban to do its bidding as brought out by the WikiLeaks. Britain which had pioneered the policy of pampering Pakistan and created festering sores like Kashmir to serve its post-1947 geo-strategic interests, has just seen the futility of the policy. This is clear from the advice of Prime Minister Cameron to Pakistan that it cannot play with ‘both’. A bold call it is really on his part because Pakistanis have acquired a voice in British politics as never before. The US had shaped its Pakistan policy based on British inputs. So, it is time for Washington to go into a strategy session not because Karzai needs it but to avoid the terror exporter tag, which the ISI appears bent upon conferring on the US through the likes of David Headley.
