Islamabad: Taliban is said to be responsible for the attack on Pakistan's Religious Affairs Minister Hamid Saeed Kazmi in Islamabad on Wednesday that left him injured and killed his driver, though no group has claimed responsibility. The attack put focus on Pakistan’s security and raised concerns about the ability of Pakistani police to protect top officials.

Kazmi was traveling in his Toyota Corolla Kazmi from his office when he came under fire. He was hit on his leg; one of his guards was injured but his driver was killed.  Islamabad police Chief Kalim Imam said two gunmen on a motorbike carried out the attack.

The minister is a known critic of Baitullah Mehsud of Pakistan Taliban.
