Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, the Indonesian President is all set for another term trouncing Megawati Sukarnoputri in the elections held on July 8, early trends show.

Because of the complex vote counting process, final result is expected to be delayed. But exit polls and available trends show Yudhoyono has secured 54 per cent vote while his nearest rival, Sukarnoputri polled some 24 per cent vote.

Voting was generally peaceful across the country's 33 provinces and 17,000 islands.

Yudhoyono's re-election is a triumph for his cautious, unostentatious style of politics and confirmation of the remarkable political stability which has taken root in Indonesia, eleven years after the fall of the Suharto regime.
