AFGHANISTAN
Talks between the Afghan government and Hezb-e-Islami have failed. Meanwhile thousands of Afghans are moving out of conflict zones to avoid getting caught in the clashes between the army and the ISIS. (Jang)
INDIA
1. Several edits have appeared on Indian PM Modi’s remark that Delhi is in dilemma as to which powers in Pakistan should India hold talks with. If India had gotten a membership of the NSG, then it would have got all the powers and would not have thought of holding any talks with Pakistan. PM Modi need not be concerned about issues like whether the government in Pakistan lacks authority; here all powers are ready for talks with India on all issues, Kashmir being on top of the list. India is escaping from the talk process as Pakistan will enlist the Kashmir issue first on the negotiation agenda. Pakistan will not take any dictation from India for the dialogue just as did not take any dictation from US. The Indian agency RAW is sponsoring terrorism in Pakistan. (Roznama Dunya Edit, Ausaf Edit)
2. Munir Ahmed Baloch strongly criticizes the incident of the Indian diplomatic staff raping an Afghan student and comments that the Indian civil and military officers consider Afghanistan as their colony and think they can do as they please. (Roznama Dunya)
3. Arbab Nek Muhammad writes under the heading ‘Recent Indo-Pak tensions and warming up of the political scenario in Pakistan’: India has finally lost the Seoul round of negotiations and did not get an entry into the Nuclear Supplier Group despite a recommendation from the US. India, has thus failed in its attempt to go solo in establishing supremacy. Pakistan too needs to be admitted to this club. It is time India gives up adamant stand against not signing NPT. Writers like Sheikh Rashid Irshad aver that a preliminary atomic war between India and Pakistan is inevitable before the CPEC becomes functional. Even Hafiz Saeed is talking same language and is busy reactivating the Difa-e-Pakistan Council and holding meetings and programs in major cities. Hafiz Saeed has also said that Pakistan has other bombs that are capable of targeting Haridwar. These people want to raise the morale of the Pakistani military. Nonetheless the traditional Anti-India stance should be given up now because prolonging such stance can only bring new conflicts that the economy cannot sustain. (Kawish)
4. In India over 13 crore people have no access to clean drinking water and according to experts the government is not taking any initiative in this regard even as groundwater is getting contaminated because of the discharge of the local industries. Unhealthy water is affecting the health of millions of people in India. (Jasarat)
ARMY/SECURITY FORCES
1. PM’s Foreign Affairs Advisor Sartaj Aziz has stated that the civilian government consults the establishment while framing foreign policy. His remarks clears doubts about Pakistan’s foreign policy. Sartaj Aziz’s comments inspire confidence that even though India has ended the talk process, Pakistan will continue with its position; without including the Kashmir issue, the talks will be regarded as useless. It is a matter of concern that India has managed to join the group of 13 countries having control over transfer of missile technology, this will legalize India’s energy and missile program. (Khabrain Edit, Jang Edit)
2. It is doubtful whether the measures taken for bringing peace in Karachi would give any results. Instead of wasting the energy elsewhere, the police and the law keeping machinery should be modernized and well equipped so that it does not take much to maintain law and order and does not become much of a herculean task to maintain peace. (Kawish Edit)
TERRORISM & EXTREMISM
1. The Provinces have been alerted that 13 TTP suicide bombers have entered Pakistan, who could target girls’ schools in Peshawar and also other schools and colleges in different cities to avenge the closing down their madaris. (Jang)
2. The Mujahideen should remain united and study the wars that were fought in the past. They also should also pay attention to the conspiracies of the enemies and stand firm on the front as they can defeat the enemy by the grace of Allah. (Al Qalam Weekly, 22- 30 June)
POLITICAL SCENE
1. Senior analyst Najam Sethi writes: It is wrong on the part of Sartaj Aziz to claim that Pakistan’s good diplomacy is responsible for India’s failure to enter the NSG. Modi is right in saying that Pakistan’s foreign policy is not under the Prime Minister’s control. The reason for the PM’s failure regarding the foreign affairs is Pakistan’s own establishment. There is no consensus between civil and military establishment over foreign affairs. It is welcome development that former president Asif Ali Zardari is doing informal diplomacy for Dr. Asim in the US. (Jang)
2. Jamaat-e-Islami’s Karachi Chief, Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rahman, says a massive movement is necessary to fulfil the objectives of the creation of Pakistan. Currently, the rioters have got control of the polity and that pious and good people will have to join politics. In the Holy Month of Ramzan they should pledge that they will strive to make Pakistan an Islamic welfare state. (Jasarat)
3. A scandal worth crores of rupees has come to light in the Interior Ministry. The NADRA officials deposited Rs. 64.27 million license fees in their personal accounts instead of depositing it in the national funds. (Khabrain)
NWFP/KP
1. The political agents have banned all facilities extended to the Qasim Khel tribe as they have failed to identify the terrorists and their facilitators. (Roznama Dunya)
G-B/POK NEWS
1. A large number of children with special needs staged a protest in front of the CM’s house and demanded that GB’s only Special Education Complex should not be closed and instead the Government should upgrade it. The complex is working since 1987 and it is the only education centre for children. (Daily K2)
