CHINA
1. The departure of the cargo ships from Gwadar port is welcome development. In all 150 ships have headed towards the Middle East and the African countries from Gwadar with goods that arrived from China on Nov 13. (Jasarat Edit)
2. Whatever be the efforts of the US and India to stall work on CPEC, they did not succeed and the first cargo consignment from China arrived at Gwadar and has left the port. Pakistan’s PM should make India aware that the CPEC project will be completed at any cost because this project will prove to be profitable to the rivals of Pakistan as well. (Ausaf Edit)
3. Arif Bahar says Gwadar port becoming functional is a message to the enemies of CPEC that they have been defeated. On the day the port became functional, the enemy chose Balochistan for a terrorist strike. From reports of Think Tanks of the West, Independence Day speech of Indian PM Modi, and the Facebook and Twitter pages of Brahumadagh Bugti, it is clear that enemies will make this place a battlefield. (Jasarat)
AFGHANISTAN
1. Pro-India and US ministers have been removed from the Afghan government at the behest of Hizb-e-Islami. (Ummat)
2. Reports that eight banned terror outfits have merged in Afghanistan’s Ghazni District to carryout terror attacks inside Pakistan are disturbing to say the least. There is no fun in protesting with the Afghanistan Government because KHAD itself is involved in the conspiracy with support from RAW and CIA. Afghanistan has never taken any action on requests by Pakistan against India. TTP Chief Mullah Fazlullah is hiding in Afghanistan and US or RAW cannot be unaware of his presence. Pakistan alone will have to take steps to tackle these groups. (Daily K2 Edit)
INDIA
1. Ever since the Uri attack on September 18, India has taken to unprovoked firing from across the border. The latest firing is an undeclared announcement of war. Pakistan has condemned the attack and asked the world community to take notice of Indian action without any more delay because growing tensions between the two nuclear powers can be a reason enough for more devastation in this region. India is jealous of Pakistan’s economic progress; Delhi is on the record saying that the CPEC is not in its interest. The recent firing from the Indian side should be seen only from this perspective. India wants to create lawlessness in the region and thus jeopardise the security and economic progress of Pakistan. The other reason behind these firing is that India wants to hide its barbarism in Kashmir and divert world attention from the Kashmir protests. India will not succeed in its designs. With regards to the Indian charges against Pakistan, so far India has not given any evidence while its violations on the border are glaring example of evidence which also speak for Indian atrocities in Kashmir too. (Sindh Express)
2. Pakistan is tolerating India’s mischievous acts along the border and LoC only to maintain peace in the region but patience also has its limits. If India persists with its acts, Pakistan would be forced to bring out its horses and then India would be in trouble. Unity within the country, and concerted diplomatic campaign are necessary to counter India’s aggressive policies. (Daily Pak Edit, Nawa-i-Waqt Edit)
3. JuD Chief Hafiz Saeed said that if Indian Premier Modi does not change his attitude he should be taught a lesson. Reacting sharply to the death of seven Pak soldiers in Indian firing, he dubbed the Indian action as an open announcement of war on Pakistan. If the Modi government does not receive an appropriate response, it will continue its aggression. Hafiz Saeed said that these skirmishes by India are due to the patronage of the US. Chief of Markazi Jamiat Ahle Hadith Pakistan’s Senator Sajid Mir demanded that Pakistani forces must give a strong response to India, which, he said, is distressed by the success of the CPEC. India should not be allowed to get away with its destabilisation efforts in Balochistan. (Daily K2, Baad-e-Shimal, Nawa-i-Waqt, Roznama Dunya, Khabrain)
4. Pakistan government has decided revive the policy of the 90’s of sending more troops and heavy weapons to the places Indian forces are targeting, sources said. (Roznama Dunya)
5. India should pay the price of killing seven Pakistani troops. (Jasarat Edit)
6. Both the United States and the United Nations have failed to discharge the duty expected of them in the context unprovoked firing by Indian forces on the Pakistan border. This is an unannounced war. Pakistan should not depend on long-term policy in combating such situations but should take short term measures in order to ensure Pakistan’s security. Foreign policy of the Sharif government is weak and failed to draw the attention of the West and even Islamic nations to Indian aggression. Indian firing on the LoC is a reaction to the first Chinese cargo ship sailing from Gwadar. Pakistan should declare India an irresponsible state; or else India will defame Pakistan by blaming it for terrorism in the region. (Khabrain Edit)
7. India has once again attacked Pakistan in the dark hour of the night as Modi government is distressed over CPEC becoming a reality. In retaliation to the martyrdom of 7 soldiers, Pakistan has given a fitting response destroying many Indian chowkies, and inflicting casualties. (Ummat)
8. Sindh Assembly members Mahfouz Yar Khan and Jan Madad have called for a ‘Crush India’ movement to stop Indian aggression against Pakistan. India should be given jaw breaking reply. (Daily Pak)
9. Former President General Pervez Musharraf said that India is getting cramps in the stomach with the inauguration of the Gwadar Port. India is trying to play a dreaded game that would be disastrous for the entire region. Musharraf strongly condemned Indian Army’s aggression at the LoC and killing of soldiers and said that Pakistan’s defence is in safe hands. (Baad-e-Shimal)
10. After aggression on the LoC, India is carrying out water aggression. India is stopping water flow of the Chenab River. Water releasing to Marala Ravi Link Canal and the lower Chenab Canal have been stopped. This caused water scarcity. And affected the wheat crop. India is afraid of the CPEC. Hence it is conspiring and carrying out water aggression after the ground assault. (Roznama Dunya, Khabrain, Ausaf)
11. Former AJK PM, Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry, has termed the ceasefire violations by India as unannounced war. He stated that India is using heavy guns. (Roznama Dunya)
12. AJK PM, Raja Farooq Haider Khan, President Sardar Masood Khan and AJK JI President Abdul Rashid Turrabi condemned Indian firing in Bhimer sector that resulted in the death of seven Pakistani soldiers. Indian firing on the LoC is to weaken the Kashmiri freedom movement. Raja Farooq asked the EU to send a fact finding team to J&K to collect facts about mass graves and use of pellet guns. On making Gilgit-Baltistan the fifth province of Pakistan, the AJK premier said any such move would have negative effects on the Kashmir issue. As such no decision should be taken without taking Kashmir leadership into confidence. (Ummat-Roznama Dunya, Daily K2, Baad-e-Shimal)
ARMY/SECURITY FORCES
1. A local advocate Ghazi Alimuddin has filed a petition in the LHC seeking extension to Army Chief General Raheel Sharif who is due to retire towards Nov end. “General Raheel Sharif has played a crucial role as the COAS in controlling terrorism. The entire Pakistan community wants him to continue as the Army Chief. Hence the government should be ordered to grant an extension to Pakistan Army Chief’s tenure”, he said in his petition. (Ausaf)
2. Analysts believe that the Pakistan Army Chief General Raheel Sharif will resolve issue of the controversial security report before his retirement. (Khabrain)
TERRORISM & EXTREMISM
Naseem Bukhari in his article ‘Trying to unravel conspiracies of attacks on the religious places’, says ISIS has not only claimed responsibility for the latest attack on a Sufi shrine in Balochistan but also released pictures of the suicide bomber. Even before the ISIS claim. Pakistan blamed the neighbouring country and RAW for the attack. Every time a terrorist hits anywhere in Pakistan, the first thing we do is to blame India. This is a strange phenomenon, and accusing India even before any investigation weakens Pakistan’s case against India. It is learnt that this Balochistan shrine is now being closed for public. This will only embolden Taliban and ISIS because this is what these fundamentalist want that the people be kept away from the Sufi shrines. Shikarpur Shrine in Sindh was attacked four years ago and no celebrations are allowed there since the administration fears that the shrine may come under more attacks. In a way the administration is emboldening the militants and fundamentalists by keeping the shrines closed. If the authorities fear these fundamentalists, it will only create more sense of impunity amongst them. The more the authorities fear these fundamentalists, the more powerful these elements will become. Sufism spells peace and brotherhood amongst humanity. Any world devoid of Sufism will only witness death and destruction. (Ibrat)

1. After Modi government demonetised 500 and 1000 rupee notes, more than Rupees 15 crore in Indian currency with the money changers in Pakistan is selling at one fourth of the face value, according to Zafar Paracha, General Secretary of Exchange Companies Associations of Pakistan. (Khabrain)
2. Federal Secretary of Water and Electricity has spoken about the Kalabagh Dam and expressed optimism that load shedding would end soon. Indian conspiracies have led to the stalling of work on Kalabagh. Now India is violating Indus Water Treaty by constructing dozens of dams in Jammu & Kashmir. Pakistan should push ahead for international arbitration particularly on the Kishanganga project since it will divert a portion of Neelum River from Pakistan, and thus undermine Pakistan’s agriculture growth and its overall economy. (Ausaf Edit)
3. PM Sharif’s decision to reduce load shedding has proved costly to the agriculture sector as more water from dams has been diverted to step up power generation. 90,000 cusec water from Tarbela Dam and 45,000 cusecs from Mangla Dam were diverted for power generation yesterday. (Daily Pak)
