US Advisory Alert Not Specific To Delhi
The United States, Austrailia and some other Western countries have issued advisories to their counrymen warning them of ‘imminent’ terrorist attacks in Delhi markets.
The Indian Home Ministry has, however, played down the advisory. ‘We are aware of these threats but these are not specific to Delhi’.
‘Markets such as those located in Chandni Chowk, Connaught Place, Greater Kailash, Karol Bagh, Mehrauli, and Sarojini Nagar, can be especially attractive targets for terrorist groups,” the US advisory said.
The Delhi police already carefully monitoring all these markets. Leave of all Delhi policepersonnel has been cancelled and the capital’s borders with adjoining states are closely watched.
According to the Home Ministry, the terror warning is related to increased infiltration attempts by terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir.
