A Chittagong court sentenced a former divisional commander of Jamiatul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) Zabed Iqbal alias Mohammad to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment in a 2005 case. He was charged with storing huge quantity of explosives in his Dhaka house which were seized. With the latest sentence, Zabed has been awarded more than 200 years of jail term in different cases that include the synchronized country-wide August 17, 2005 bomb blasts, a report in The New Age says

Two other activists of the banned outfit, Naimuzzaman alias Shohag and Rafiqul Islam were given a 15-year sentence each –  but another accused Jahidul Islam alias Boma Mizan was acquitted as the prosecution could not establish the charges against him.

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested five activists of JMB from Mymensingh, Narsinghdi and Jhenidah districts. Of them two are ‘ehsars’ (fulltime) and three ‘gayeri ehsars’ (part time) members. A large number of books on ‘jihad’, CDs, mobile sets and bomb making materials were recovered from them during the anti-militancy drive on Dec 19,  the  Daily Star reported
