Bangladesh has confirmed that ULFA leader Anup Chetia had met the then Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf during the latter’s visit to Dhaka, the Daily Star said on Jan 9.

The meeting was facilitated by the ruling alliance of the day in Dhaka. To facilitate the meeting, Chetia was taken out from the Jail and was escorted to the place where Musharraf was staying, according to Local Government Minister Syed Ashraful Islam.

The Minister, who is also the Hasina government’s spokesman, told the National Press Club in Dhaka that he had evidence of the meeting which lasted one and a half hours.

Ashraful Islam, who is also General Secretary of the ruling Awami League, said the BNP-JEI Govt collaborated with Pakistan and allowed Bangladesh territory to be used for subversive activities against India.

Speaking at another function held to mark the ‘Homecoming Day’ of Bangabandhu Mujibur Rahman, he further said that India was the destination of 10 truckloads of arms seized in Chittagong in 2004 and the huge quantity of bullets recovered at Bogra in 2003.
