AFGHANISTAN
1.Chief of Hizb-e-Islami, Gulbuddin Hekmatyar, has said that Mullah Mansour was targeted on the information provided by Iran’s secret agency. He added that Iran would face the consequences. (Roznama Dunya)
2.Rana Jawad in his analysis writes: Any possibility of peace in Afghanistan has vanished after the killing of Mullah Mansour; the quadrilateral effort for peace dialogue appears to be on the last breath as differences have propped within the four nation group. The killing Mullah Mansour in Pakistan was part of a major game plan and the Afghan war would be pushed into Pakistan. (Jang)
POST-MANSOOR KILLING
1.Awami Awaz in an edit on post-Mansoor scenario says: General Raheel Sharif said the Army has been successful in dismantling the network of foreign spy agencies in Balochistan. The Balochistan’s Home Minister, Sarfraz Bugti told the media that six Afghan intelligence agents have been nabbed. Pakistan’s Defence Minister and other leaders have talked about the violation of Pakistan’s sovereignty in the drone attack on Pakistani soil that killed Mullah Mansoor, and that this could derail the Afghan peace process. Instead of doing anything in haste that might lead to more tensions or war-like tensions, Pakistan should encourage such exercises and acts that see to it that its neighbours do not keep good relations with India; this can be achieved only through better policies being framed by foreign policy and defence experts. (Awami Awaz Edit)
2.Many dailies have complimented the army chief Gen. Raheel Sharif for giving a blunt message to the US after the drone attack that killed Mullah Mansoor on Pak soil. Jang said though Pakistan cooperated with US after 9/11, the US has been carrying out negative propaganda. Pakistan is trying for peace in Afghanistan and is trying to convince the world that CPEC project is for the economic activities of the entire region, but India is trying to foil the project. Roznama Dunya states that the US wants to attack the Afghan Taliban in Pakistan, but when Pakistan demands the handing over of TTP leaders hiding in Afghanistan no action is taken. (Ausaf Edit, Jang Edit, Roznama Dunya Edit)
3.Ausaf comments that in the aftermath of the appointment of the new Taliban chief, Afghan President has told the Taliban leader to hold talks or face disastrous. The Afghan leadership should avoid making such negative speak. (Ausaf Edit)
4. Khabrain and Jang have editorially supported Federal Interior Minister’s orders for re-verification of the CNICs across Pakistan. The order was issued in the wake of the discovery that the slain Taliban leader Mansoor carried a Pakistani CNIC. This will help in rooting out the terrorists hidden in the Pakistani community. (Khabrain Edit, Jang Edit)

INDIA
1. At the next Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) meeting, to be held next month in Tashkent, Pakistan and India would be given full membership. With Pakistan becoming an SCO member, its influence in the region would increase, and its military and technical issues with Russia would also improve. (Jang)
TERRORISM & EXTREMISM
1. Munir Ahmed Baloch throws light on the formation of ‘Zalm-e-Pakhtoon’, an organisation which was set up a little before the formation of Pakistan on the lines of the RSS. It died along with the defeat of Khan Ghaffar Khan, but was revived again by Abdul Wali Khan in 1970. If one wants to understand the ways of terrorism and Afghan jihad against Russia and within Pakistan, one should read the book titled, “Fareb-e-Natamam” (Incomplete Deceit), authored by former Zalm-e-Pakhtoon member, Juma Khan Sufi. The book throws light on the hide outs of terrorist leaders in FATA and Afghanistan. It also makes one understand the sympathy India, Karzai,, Abdullah Abdullah, and Sardar Dawood have towards National Awami Party. The book also exposed conspiracy against Z A Bhutto’s government and Pakistan, adds Munir Baloch. (Roznama Dunya)
POLITICAL SCENE
1. Ibrat commented on the state of nation thus: “On the one hand conditions are worsening with politicking at its worst on the Panama leaks issue, and on the other hand, there has been further deterioration of Pak-US relations after a US drone attack killed Mullah Mansour Akhtar on Pakistani soil. Though Pakistan has been lodging protests that such drone attacks are encroaching on Pakistan’s sovereignty, the US is not going to give up such attacks. Pakistan is paying the price for fighting others’ war and this has resulted in the multiplication of problems for the country. In such a scenario, the worst part is that neither any confrontation can be done against the US nor can any protests be held directly against it. Additionally, there is no unity in the country, even on the issue of corruption. And the war against corruption is turning out to be war of egos amongst the leaders, with no solution in sight. This is the right time to get the country cleansed and it can happen only when the political forces sink their differences and come under one umbrella. Otherwise the Pakistan society will never be able to save itself from the curse of corruption or even protect its sovereignty and security. (Ibrat Edit)
ECONOMY
1. Columnist Ashfaq Azar writes: a Swiss Bank Director said once that if all the money in Swiss Banks belonging to Pakistanis was brought back to Pakistan, it could result in tax free budgets for 30 years, crores of jobs, and abundant energy. Pakistan would not need to approach the IMF for loans and funds. Besides Swiss banks, a lot of Pak money is invested in offshore companies and in Dubai. People should remember that whomsoever they had elected to parliament had most often abused their powers and in a way disrespected the mandate given to them. Therefore if the people themselves do not take note of the disrespect being shown to them and did not make their elected representatives accountable, it is better not to expect that courts would do their job. (Kawish)
SINDH
1.Pak Sarzameen Party leader, Mustafa Kamal, has warned the Federal and Sindh governments that if no action is taken against RAW agents in the province, he would ask the people to come out on the street. (Jang, Roznama Dunya)
