Pak Urdu Media Digest -Jan 5, 2012

Jinnah and Ummat have diametrically opposite reports on the current stand off between the govt and the army. Since the reports are attributed to sources, the leaking roofs in GHQ and civil secretariat can be said to be active. While the PM’s side has made the meeting between Kayani and Gilani appear as a major development of consequence, the army sources based report simply dismissed the meeting as of no significance. This shows that the likelihood of the crisis blowing over are slim at least as of now..

Khalid Shamim was issued to the media on instruction from the PM to give an impression that there was no rift between the two pillars of the state. Siddiqui states that this government had a very good chance to do something good for the country since neither America, nor the Army or any political parry did anything concrete to pull it down. Unfortunately the Chief Executive of the nation failed miserably on all fronts. Siddiqui states that even though it is important that new provinces should be carved out and the government should complete its normal term, everything should be done in an orderly democratic manner.
